Bridal Shower Cuisine

Many planners worry what to serve at a bridal shower. Depending on budget, tastes, location and number of guests, catering such an event can run from one end of the spectrum to the other. From catering the event through a local deli to planning the shower at the bride’s favorite restaurant, planners have many options when it comes to the bridal shower’s cuisine.

The Potluck

Depending on the bride, the potluck may be the simplest option and the easiest to facilitate. A potluck, no matter where the shower is held, is personal and efficient. Problems that may arise with the potluck cuisine, however, are lack of dishes, not enough of a particular dish and/or too many of a similar item. Ultimately, many guests will be glad to participate in the bridal shower by bringing an item that they feel connects them to the bride. In fact, potlucks can be themed in that every guest can bring a dish which the bride likes most.

The Cookbook

Another way to add creativity to the cuisine is to find the bride’s favorite cookbook. Planners can then surprise the bride with recipes and drinks the bride likes best, but has such little time to make. The cuisine can also side with the bride’s favorite meal. Many showers have been catered through the bride’s favorite place to eat, whether it’s a high-end restaurant or a local eatery just down the street. Be aware, though, that guests may not like just one type of food. For example, if the bride’s favorite meal is Indian cuisine, certain guests may not be able to eat such spicy, hot food. To be safe, it’s important to offer variety.

Catering the shower at a local restaurant or winery is an excellent way to take the stress out of the planners hands. Planning the event at such a locale usually includes food and beverage service with an all inclusive price tag. Keep an eye on the gratuity, though, as usually it’s a separate expense.

Catering cuisine at bridal showers can seem very daunting, however, with the help from guests, a favorite cookbook or restaurant or utilizing a catering service provided onsite, the bridal shower cuisine should be a hit with the bride-to-be!
